Currently residing in Ottawa ON, Shaemara is a Toronto born multimedia artist, of Barbadian, Hungarian and Czechoslovakian descent.
As a songwriter Shaemara’s original lyrics focus on love and heartbreak such as “Swimming”, perseverance “Weightless”, and achieving peace and freedom “Indigo Blue”. A self taught producer, Shaemara’s music captivates you to move and flow along the waves of hypnotic contemporary RnB Soul with electronic elements. Including signature deep vocal layers with rich harmonies, mixed with ambient and organic sounds. Shaemara loves to incorporate projections of natural imagery into her live performances, while also directing and editing her own videos and album artwork.
Artists and genres who have influenced Shaemara’s sound and songwriting include: Sade, Erykah Badu, Esthero, 4 Hero, Nina Simone, Prince, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, 90s RnB, different genres of house music.
Nubian City features Shaemara’s handmade apparel and accessory designs, including her Nefertiti crowns, which she often wears for performances.

As the years pass, I can now accept that life is yin and yang.
When I wrote and produced this song a few years ago, I did not have true love, I wrote this about a feeling I wanted to have; also inspired by past true love I had experienced.
I am happy to have true love in my life today. 🥰 My dreams came true, I wrote my future into existence, I just had to be super patient lol. Overall, I am thankful for all of the love I have experienced in my life.
When I speak about Love, I mean unconditional love.
This kind of love can be found in romantic connections, friendships, family, and of course the most unconditional, the love of a pet.
I dedicate this song to my Frankie Romeo, he was the best little bulldog anyone could ask for, and brought love and joy to everyone he met. Love you forever. 💖🕊️
